Global Buddhist Congregation, 2019 is a Mega Conference with a noble cause of spreading the teachings of mindfulness, compassion and peace of Lord Buddha. It is being organised under the guidance of all India Bhikkhu Sangha, in the historical city of Aurangabad Maharashtra. And it is being blessed by the auspicious presence of His Holiness Dalai Lama and His Holiness Warakagoda Sri Pragyananad Ghanaratnabhidana, Mahanayaka Mahathera of Srilanka and very senior monks from India and other countries.
Aurangabad is famous for ancient Buddhist caves around it including world famous Ajanta and Ellora Caves. Aurangabad has more than 4 lakh Buddhist population and because of many educational institute in NAGSENVAN area set up by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar (father of Indian Constitution) in 1950, people from different parts of Maharashtra came for education and settled here. It is very pertinent to mention that Dr Ambedkar converted to Buddhism along with millions of his followers on 14th October 1956, at Dikshabhoomi, in Nagpur. This Congregation is being organised in same Nagsenvan campus in Aurangabad.
India is famously known as land of Buddha the enlightened one. It was in Bodhgaya where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment 2500 years before and found a way for cessation of suffering in the world. Throughout rest of his life, he preached this path to end sufferings to everybody. Later on, it was during period of Emperor Ashoka, that Buddhism spreaded to many countries. Unfortunately in later times, it decline in India, the land of it’s very origin.
Many senior venerable Monks and Upasakas have now come forward revive and restrengthen Buddhism in India. A new beginning has been made by constructing a Lokuttara mahavihara Bhikkhu Training Centre (Lokuttaramahavihara.org) at Chauka, Ajanta Caves Road Aurangabad last year mainly because of the donation from Upasika, Ms Rojana Vanich Kamble from Thailand and with support from Dr Harshadeep Kamble, who is senior bureaucrat from Mumbai.
Organisation of this Global Buddhist Congregation in Auranganabd, is a major step in coordination of efforts towards the goal of revival of Buddhism and Buddhist way of life in India.
